What it Means to Pique Interest and Why It’s Important to Incorporate into Your Business

Have you ever read a caption on social media that drew you in? Have you ever purchased a product because a friend said it changed their life? The answer to these is most likely yes, and believe it or not, that is thanks to something called piquing interest.

Before we dive into all of the specifics, we want to make sure you understand that this content is not meant to tell you how to manage your business, it’s to help introduce a potential new marketing strategy to try.

The Piquing Approach

The unfortunate truth is that most people are not instantly interested in joining your business or purchasing your products. If you approach a friend with something along the lines of “Hi, do you want to buy these products and join my downline?” you’re most likely to never see or hear from that individual again. In contrast, when you approach a friend and say “Hi, I’ve been trying this product for a couple of months now and I feel so good! My life has completely changed.” they’re most likely to become intrigued and want to know more.

Liz Hardy, a Coach with New U Life, shared how she approaches piquing interest: “Share the benefits and how the product has helped me show up better in my own life. Each post I make is like I’m talking to my best friend. I’m excited! I don’t exaggerate or make claims. I don’t mention the name of the company or the product. My whole goal is to have my network ask me What is it? What are you doing?’ If I give too much information, they won’t need to ask. My goal on social media is to constantly be having conversations!

One major benefit of piquing interest is that anyone can do it! This is the least scary approach to building your business because you can simply share about your life and how the products are benefiting you.

How to Pique Interest (and Where to Do It)

You may now be saying to yourself, “This all sounds great, but how do I pique interest?” Liz Hardy answered this for us: “Create a sense of mystery, with a hint of urgency, and BOOM! You’ve got yourself a recipe for EXCITEMENT!  I don’t overpost about the product or opportunity. I sprinkle those posts in along with a healthy mix of other content. I show up on social media DAILY. Good things take time! Consistency is key! Interact with others daily, and the authentic connections made along the way will bless you and eventually be converted into collected decisions.

Where you pique interest is completely up to you! Do whatever feels natural, whether that is approaching someone in person, sending a text to or calling a friend, or sharing a post on social media, the message will come across when you approach it in a way you feel comfortable withKristie Chapman, a Life Coach with New U Life, is a big believer in building your business on social media and posting piquing interest content. She shared, “If you are not using social media to build your business, you are missing out.” To do this, she publishes an engagement post that asks a question once a week on her Facebook profile. This encourages friends to interact with her which in turn buildrelationships.

Types of Content That Pique Interest

One rule to follow when creating content is to focus on subjects that individuals can relate with or incorporate into their daily lifeThis can be anything from a healthy recipe to a funny, relatable meme. Another thing to try that will always receive positive feedback is sharing your story! Kristie Chapman uses her story to share about her gel journey daily.

Jolie Miller, the head of business content strategy at LinkedIn Learning, shared “What I love about content is it has the power to change people’s lives for a second or for a day or forever. Great content creates space for people to pause and reflect, and that space is where transformation happens. This is where you come in. When you share content that is real and authentic, people around you will become intrigued and want to know more.

Whether you are approaching someone in person, texting them, or posting on social media, here are some ideas that you can copy and paste to help pique interest:

I have managed my weight so well with the keto products! I am feeling SO good and could not have done it without them!

FINALLY have the energy to play with my kids again! Since I was introduced to the gel, I feel super healthy and great. 😀

Kristie Chapman shared this effective caption, “I am so excited to start my gel journey!”

Mornings used to be 👎 but now I look forward to them! Now I can wake up and just go, no more lagging behind in bed.

I used to count down the hours until I could crawl back in bed and it was NO way to live!

[insert time] ago I found something that changed it ALL for me!

The days used to be such a blur, but I found a way to make things clear again! #DrinktoThink

One caption Liz Hardy recommends is, “If you’ve tried it ALL…I promise, you haven’t tried anything like THIS!

I found an incredible supplement that has all of the ingredients I need and it doesn’t break the bank! It supports my immune system with natural, high-quality ingredients.

I tried this new natural, caffeine-free drink that tastes sooo good!

Another effective caption that Kristie Chapman shared, “I am so grateful that I sleep well on the gel!
